Volunteer in a classroom

Alison Batchelder article.jpg

Ongoing volunteer opportunities enable volunteers to get to know a certain group of children well, so we ask that you please take these commitments and relationships seriously. The following list provides examples of ways you may get involved:

  • Lend support in our infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms

  • Help serve or supervise lunch and snack time

  • Read to a child or a group of children

  • Supervise or lead various activities (e.g. games, songs, arts and crafts projects, drawing, coloring, sand table, etc.)

  • Help supervise children at Ellis’ Children’s Park or on a walk nearby

Classroom shifts occur Monday through Friday in the morning (9:30 am - 12:30 pm) and in the afternoon (3-5:30 pm).

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old and undergo a Background Check (BRC) and fingerprinting through the Department of Early Education and Care.
To learn more about how to get involved with Ellis, contact Olivia Goodwin-Cook, Development Associate.
